What is a Real American Mustang?
A Mustang is not a horse breed. The name Mustang comes from the Spanish terms mesteño and mestengo, which referred to ownerless, free-roaming animals. Simply put: A Mustang is a wild horse, and to be one, it must have grown up in the wild! That means having lived freely for at least three years, as part of a herd, constantly on the move, searching for food, and alert to its surroundings. This way of life is what makes a wild horse. It shapes its resilience, its senses, and its unique social behavior. That is a real Mustang.
A horse that lives in a BLM facility and has spent a large part of its life there, grew up there, or was even born there has never had these experiences. A long mane, an unusual color, or a spectacular appearance does not make a horse wild. You should know what you are paying a lot of money for here in Germany, because often, what makes a real Mustang is missing.
For us, that misses the point: Why import a horse that you could just as easily buy here?
A Mustang is not a lifestyle product or a status symbol.
And Mustangs do not need to be brought to Europe to be saved!
Mustang is not a show. Mustang is heritage, experience, and a life lived in freedom.

The heart of Ride the Brand is Rancho Terra Bravo, not the sale of Mustangs. Importing your chosen horse and ensuring its safe arrival are part of what we do. But what truly defines us is the individual support we provide for both horse and human, genuine learning, and sustainable growth together.
