Together we make it possible
Without Landers, there would be no Ride the Brand. He is an exceptional leader within his herd and a remarkable horse to us humans. Whether participating in long rides through new terrain or showcasing his beauty in city parades, he proves just how magnificent mustangs truly are!
Karin, alongside her mustang, Landers, founded Ride The Brand with a commitment to excellence in every step of the journey. From offering expert guidance to meticulously handling all aspects of planning and logistics, she ensures that each mustang transitions safely to its new home. Her passion shines through in the bi-annual wild horse training clinics, which she has made her personal mission.
David is our sponsor and tireless supporter, whose dedication to family and the program has been instrumental in making Ride the Brand a reality. As a veteran, he is committed to establishing the Rio Douro Ranch in Portugal as a peaceful retreat for people with PTSD. His love for animals, cycling, and sailing is woven into the design of the ranch, which will bring together all his passions.
Mountain Strider, "I will take you there," truly lives up to his name. He arrived with us in Sierra Vista, Arizona, in July 2024, and is Ride the Brand's first mustang. Through him, we experienced every step of the process firsthand, allowing us to develop a strong program with individualized support. We carefully worked through each phase—from transport and training to registration and flight. Strider has helped us refine our approach, ensuring that every mustang purchase and import runs smoothly and efficiently.
Randy, a 4th-generation Arizonan, grew up on a ranch raising Hereford cattle, racehorses, and cotton. His lifelong passion for horses has guided him through roles as a military serviceman, police officer, and pastor.
Now, he brings this love full circle through clinics, cowboy churches, and is prescreening and selecting mustangs for Ride the Brand.
Originally trained in "corrective" methods, Randy now focuses on "progressive" training, building on positive reinforcement. Through Helm Horsemanship, he offers 2-3 day clinics and expos for riders seeking a safe, responsive horse.
His work supports groups like the Arizona State Prison, US Border Patrol, and law enforcement, where mustangs are trained and utilized, as well as the general public.
As the clinician and trainer for Ride the Brand, Travis Elliston is a Montana native and military veteran with a diverse career in the horse industry. He has worked as a clinician, trainer, instructor, and cowboy, serving as a stable officer at Fort Benning and coaching the U.S. Air Force Academy rodeo team.
Travis trained B Troop, 4th Cavalry Regiment, at Fort Huachuca, worked as a Horse Marshal for the Tucson Rodeo Parade, and acted as an expert witness in equine-related court cases. He is also an Ambassador for the Remount Foundation, promoting equine-assisted learning for military personnel.
Certified with the Certified Horsemanship Association and an accredited Lyons Legacy trainer, Travis has graduated from the Texas Horseshoeing School.
Taharra has fulfilled a childhood dream with her ranch in Sierra Vista, providing Ride the Brand with the ideal place to care for our mustangs. The horses spend their training phase there, receiving the time they need to prepare for their journey. Twice a year, our clinics are held on her ranch, offering perfect conditions for working with the mustangs.
Janna has established herself as the preferred horse transporter for Ride the Brand, with a reputation for safety and reliability. Whether it’s picking up mustangs from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), ensuring their smooth transport to Sierra Vista for training, or taking them to the Los Angeles departure airport for their journey abroad, Janna is the first choice for those who prioritize their horses' well-being. Years ago, she safely transported my mustang, Landers, and her services have remained impeccable since then. With her deep understanding of the special needs of these wild horses and her commitment to their welfare, Janna remains an indispensable part of Ride the Brand.
Bosch, our friendly 170 pound livestock guardian dog wins everyone's heart instantly. Big dog, big love! He makes sure all animals are safe and will get a full time job at the Ranch in Portugal.
Tala is always by Karin's side, making sure everyone is where they should be. Although she often gets into trouble, it's just in her nature to keep an eye on everyone!
RIDE THE BRAND - WE BRING HOME YOUR MUSTANG
Marked with the scars of freedom – yet full of grace and beauty.
Not only a living witness of history – but also bearing the knowledge of countless experiences from earlier generations.
They unite the wisdom of the past with the strength of the present.
